Do you want a chilled-out, village-feel city lifestyle complete with beautiful riverside walks and café culture? Putney, Kingston upon Thames and the always-popular Richmond have you covered. Additionally, many of these South West London favourites feature in the top 10 safest areas in London list.

Do you want a bit more excitement and trendiness in your daily London life? Brixton is undoubtedly for you. This isn’t just one of the coolest areas in South West London – it’s one of the capital’s rising stars. With deep roots and a vibrant future, Brixton brings the best of London’s multiculturalist attitudes to food, fashion and shopping to the fore. Clapham and Balham are also prime examples of how bang on trend South West London can be.

What is HomeViews?

Of course, we can’t ignore Wimbledon, home of the world’s premier tennis event. The annual tournament brings this part of South West London to life as tennis lovers from around the world congregate. For the rest of the year, Wimbledon is still a bustling, busy yet beautiful part of town. Its connection to sport runs deep, and you’ll find no shortage of gyms, fitness clubs and excellent green spaces for balancing health and wellbeing.

Transport in South West London

The southern half of London may still lose out to the north when it comes to accessing Underground stations and lines. Ironically, only the Northern Line penetrates far into the south. However, Transport for London operates a great bus network that gives South West London the public transport coverage it needs.

This part of London is also well served by major A-roads that criss-cross the main areas. Fortunately, the traffic is far less chaotic here than in central London.

Finally, South West London is ahead of the game in terms of providing excellent cycling and walking routes. These may not provide a viable commute for everyone yet, but their growing presence is a big boost to public health and sustainability in South West London.

South West London property prices

South West London’s housing market is not cheap and is set to become more expensive. Rightmove’s data from August 2024 places the South West London house price average at just over £800,000.

However, remember that this average is skewed by the tremendous highs of large houses and prime waterfront property in the likes of Richmond and Putney.
