What size building do BTR residents rate the highest?

We’re giving away this fascinating excerpt from the latest edition of our definitive Build to Rent Report, published on April 30th, 2024. Here we reveal the highest-rated building size among BTR residents in the UK, with surprisingly conclusive results.

The highest rated BTR building size across all categories

As you can see below, one size category was highest-rated across all our ratings categories: the 300-400 units category. The 201-300 unit bracket is the next highest-rated, outperforming the larger 401-500 and 500+ categories. The lowest ratings were seen for developments under 200 units.

The data used for this analysis is available to all users of our HomeViews Pro data dashboard. To generate these results, we first set the development location filter to London and the sector filter to include all four Build to Rent sub-categories (Pure BTR, Co-living, Single Family Houses and Rental Operator. We set the date range to 2023 and could then view results split into the unit sizes shown in the legend below.

We also added in the BTR benchmark scores for each of the categories to show the sector averages.

  • Look at advertised rents for the highest- and lowest-rated developments
  • Check the facilities offered by the most popular BTR communities
  • Dig into resident sentiment data for the best and worst developments to see what’s working and what isn’t
