Nice Estate

Lin & Pete (Owner)

Please tell us about the good and bad aspects of living in your local area:

Callington is a small town with a Tesco. There is some nice countryside around. Meadowbrook is on the outskirts with some nice walks and views.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

Wish we knew about the badly laid rear garden. This has been a real disappointment as we have been unable to use the lawn this summer.

What is the best feature of your home:

The lounge at the back suits us really well. 3 nice sized bedrooms.

Please tell us about the good and bad aspects of living in your local area:

There are transport links to Plymouth and surrounding areas, but not as often as in a more urban area. No large superstores in Callington and just a few options for pubs, although not modern. Good parking availability in the development, although there are bigger vans that do not seem to move very much in allocated visitor spaces. Good weekly bin collections, which takes place weekly for rubbish collection. The odd antisocial behaviour occurs, like putting road sign into the drain, which although it had been reported to the developer, nothing happened. But very quiet both day time and night. Great helpful neighbours!

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

Callington tend to have windy, rainy weather!

What is the best feature of your home:

The Cornish stones on our property and the wonderful unobstructed and far-reaching view from our patio, both dining and sitting room areas, to the greens and the trees and grassland beyond.

Please tell us about the good and bad aspects of living in your local area:

Callington as a whole is a lovely place to live, access to a large supermarket, country club and a small town centre. Easily commutable to plymouth. Callington is lacking for nice places to eat and drink. Parking on the estate okay but more difficult for surplus parking if having guests stay.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

Watch out for the seagull that rips open bin bags when you put them out for the bin man. Try to best look how the rooms with be used and weather adjustments would better suit it. We had plugs moved in the first fix for the TV in the living room as a result they are now hidden. We wish we had a separate shower hose in the en-suite too make cleaning easier this would have been an easy alterations in first fix but is now quite a lot of work.

What is the best feature of your home:

The layout. We have a town house style layout which offers us the most room possible for the footprint. Our top floor offers a 5m x 8m bedroom which is very rare to find. As well as lots of optional extras included such as a shower over bath which was an chargeable option elsewhere, the oak doors and pre-landscaped garden.

House of two halves, mostly very good.

Please tell us about the good and bad aspects of living in your local area:

Callington is a pleasant place to live albeit rather unexciting. All the basic facilities are there and there’s a fairly large Tesco which saves a trip to a larger town for the weekly shop. The estate is built on the edge of town making it quiet but not cut off.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

The lack of a traditional roof overhang means that when it rains, water dripping from the gutters pounds on the sills below. Also the fact that not everyone has an attached garage and driveway means that there are more cars parked on the road than usual and the roads have not been designed with this in mind.

What is the best feature of your home:

The best features are the dual zone heating system and the open plan living area.

A Quality Estate

Please tell us about the good and bad aspects of living in your local area:

Callington is a quaint town with all the facilities one expects in a place this size. The town is well served with takeaway shops which all sell quality food. Its location provide good links to Plymouth, Liskeard, Launceston & Tavistock. The area is well served with country walks and have some excellent views of the countryside.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

The quality of the gardens could be improved. The amount of rain that falls on Callington, apparently well known amongst the local population.

What is the best feature of your home:

The style and build quality. The use of 1st class fixtures and fittings.
