Please tell us about the good and bad aspects of living in your local area:
Moving here from Edinburgh has been great. Melrose Gait has a very large amount of family homes and my one mistake was not getting a definitive detail of other local facilities to be built. We have one local store, which is good. That's it. The beautiful Queen Elizabeth Square has now been ruined by local youth who have shown no respect, and I guess neither has their parents. There has been a football/play pitch at the far eastern side opened this year, but it lacks lights and very poorly designed drainage. The local transport is good, but the local bus, no.75 isn't frequent enough and needs to be larger for the school run in the morning at after school(4pm) Melrose is actually closer to walk to, but Galashiels is is access via car or public transport, A few local school options, but they are starting to fill with other housing development, I believe there could be a small local community primary school on the site of the Builders square.
How has the building management responded to any problems or issues you have raised:
slow, and hasn't fixed everything. A lick of paint to fix cracked between walls and skirting or joints between ceiling and walls, so now after a year, they need re-done
Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:
council tax. Having lived in Edinburgh, I did not expect to paying the levels of council tax I pay now for LESS! No mention of the 'recycling' centre that it had been a landfill area for a number of years. In certain weather conditions, it can smell! Local authority not making any effort to improve school buses to feed Gala Academy

The street is good apart from other motorists using the street as through highway, perhaps speed bumps should be introduced.
How has the building management responded to any problems or issues you have raised:
Persimmon have responded poorly to the rough casting problem
Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:
If we knew rough cast was a problem we would not have bought this property.

Great location, plenty to do in and around the area and transport is probably better than a main city, so this along with the countryside views and fresh air makes it enjoyable to live here.
How has the building management responded to any problems or issues you have raised:
No they have not!! I have tried in vain to get answers but they never respond.
Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:
The way they treat you once you move in, the aftersales is shocking.

Please tell us about the good and bad aspects of living in your local area:
Melrose Gait is a fairly new, modern development on the outskirts of Galashiels. It has bus links, walking paths and cycle routes connecting it to the main town. There is a football pitch, corner shop, nearby garage and a playground for children 5 and under. There is also a communal square where gatherings can be held within the community. One parking space per house. Not too noisy, regular bin collections and is an area where lots of young families live so most people want to keep the area as safe and tidy as possible.
How has the building management responded to any problems or issues you have raised:
They haven't really and Persimmon are notorious for doing this. They build as fast as possible, move on and don't look back. To concerned with selling more houses to provide decent customer care to those they have already secured sales from.
Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:
This is an area that has grown much faster than we thought and continues to get bigger as more houses are built. Lots of neighbours all around!

Overall, very happy with our house. We love the space and for us the views towards the Eildons from the back as we have no development of homes. A bit concerned that one of our promises we got from Persimmons was the development of a park with a skate park and other junior activities. I have heard from a number of sources that this isn’t going to happen. That’s a major problem for me as I had been sold on the idea. I’m also concerned about the quality of some of the exterior walls with rough cast appearing to crack and fall from a variety of houses. No company feedback or commitments it seems at the moment
How has the building management responded to any problems or issues you have raised:
Originally good but not so good since we have had to use the persimmon website or email
Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:
Potentially the company will not leave the office and material site with the planned play park. It’s a big sight and room for a community centre and play park. This should be a great way for this large new community to be left with a great legacy of Persimmons
