Exceptional living experience

Please tell us about the good and bad aspects of living in your local area:

Living in Canary Wharf offers a dynamic urban experience. The area boasts a plethora of upscale restaurants and trendy bars, providing diverse dining and nightlife options. Transport is highly convenient with the Jubilee Line, DLR, and upcoming Elizabeth Line ensuring swift connections across the city. The district is clean, modern, and safe, with ample green spaces and waterfront views. Shopping and amenities are abundant, making daily life easy and enjoyable. However, it can feel a bit corporate! Overall, Canary Wharf is perfect for professionals seeking a vibrant, well-connected, and upscale living environment.

How has the building management responded to any problems or issues you have raised:

Yes, very prompt with all maintenance issues. The building management has consistently shown excellent responsiveness to problems raised by residents. They handle maintenance requests efficiently and resolve issues promptly, ensuring a comfortable living experience. This proactive approach by the management adds significant value to the overall resident experience.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

One aspect to consider about living here that might not be evident during a viewing is the windiness of the area. Due to the high-rise buildings and proximity to the water, the wind can be quite strong, making outdoor activities less pleasant at times and potentially affecting balcony use. It's something residents often notice only after moving in.

Manager response

Hi Raffa, Thank you so much for your thoughtful and detailed review of 1 Newfoundland Place! We're thrilled to hear that you're enjoying your living experience with Vertus. Your kind words about our striking architectural design and top-notch facilities truly warm our hearts. We’ve worked hard to create a space that offers both luxury and comfort, and it’s wonderful to know that our spacious layouts, high-end finishes, and breathtaking views are hitting the mark. We’re glad you appreciate the Vertus + spaces on offer for our residents, from the state-of-the-art gym to the cozy cinema room and stunning rooftop terrace. It’s our goal to provide a variety of spaces where you can relax and socialise with your neighbours. Your feedback about the dynamic urban experience in Canary Wharf, the convenience of our location, and the array of dining and nightlife options nearby is spot on. We’re delighted that you’re making the most of everything the Canary Wharf Estate has to offer. We also appreciate your note about the windiness in the area. It’s the little things that can sometimes make a big difference, and we have made various improvements to Newfoundland to counteract the effects of the wind on the building. Lastly, thank you for acknowledging our building management team. We pride ourselves on our responsiveness and commitment to resident satisfaction, and it’s fantastic to hear that our efforts are making a positive impact on your daily life. Once again, thank you for your valuable feedback and for being a part of our community at 1 Newfoundland Place. We’re here to ensure your living experience remains nothing short of exceptional. Please tell us about the good and bad aspects of living in your local area:

The area (Canary Wharf) is immaculately maintained. There’s a clear sense of pride and care with regular clean-up teams who keep everything spotless. Bins are emptied frequently, the pavements are jet-washed regularly, and you won’t find dog mess or litter anywhere – genuinely impressive for a busy London neighbourhood. The landscaping is also a standout feature. Flower beds are beautifully maintained year-round, and open green spaces are plentiful and perfect for walks or relaxing outdoors. Transport links are nothing short of exceptional. You’ve got the Elizabeth Line, Jubilee Line, DLR, and even the Uber Boat, which makes commuting or getting across London an absolute breeze. Whether you’re heading to the West, Central, City, East and even Heathrow, or enjoying a scenic ride down the Thames, you’re incredibly well connected. I’ve never had a problem with delays or overcrowding – and having this many options is a massive bonus. Local amenities are excellent too. There’s a strong mix of independent shops, cafes, restaurants, and well-known names, so you’re never short of good food, drinks, or convenience shopping. Bars are stylish but not rowdy – the area strikes the perfect balance between vibrancy and calm. On a day-to-day level, living here is peaceful. The presence of private security offers real peace of mind, especially in the evenings, and helps the area feel safe and respected. There’s very little in the way of anti-social behaviour – it feels like a well-managed, community-first environment. Parking is abundantly available for day parking (undergound secure car parks), but high prices for a monthly space, bin collections are reliable, and traffic noise is minimal, even during peak times. All in all, it’s a clean, secure, well-connected place to live with excellent amenities and a really pleasant atmosphere. Couldn’t recommend (the area) more.

How has the building management responded to any problems or issues you have raised:

Unfortunately, this is a mixed review - Umar has been exceptional in dealing with specific maintenance requests, efficient and very polite. However, the building management are useless, not empathetic, ignore you for months on end and not helpful. My windows have not been cleaned more than once in 12 months on one side and on the other side they have NEVER been cleaned since I moved in three years ago. Despite many emails and requests on the landlords in-house app, I have had minimal response from management (they stepped in over Umar). They ignore lots of my emails and seem to not want to clean my windows for some reason!

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

Management doesn't care about you and they hike the rent up extortionately every opportunity whilst remove services and benefits at the same time - costs more for less,

Please tell us about the good and bad aspects of living in your local area:

Right in the middle of everything from a hospitality and transport perspective. 5 minutes from the mall and equal distance to the edge of Canary Wharf and a good old fashioned London pub.

How has the building management responded to any problems or issues you have raised:

Highly responsive, some minor issues on moving in day all handled quickly and professionally.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

Minor niggle - coffee cups in lounge need to be available 100% of the time.
